Ebru Marbling

Ebru Marbling In-Person

Ebru marbling is a beautiful and culturally rich art form that I believe will captivate community members and offer a unique hands-on creative experience. Also known as Turkish marbling, is a traditional form of paper decoration that involves creating intricate patterns on the surface of water or a thickened liquid (often made with carrageenan or other stabilizers). Artists sprinkle or drip paints onto the liquid surface and manipulate them using combs, brushes, or other tools to form  patterns. Once the design is complete, a sheet of paper is carefully laid over the surface to transfer the pattern.

Yasemin Ozer, discovered the art of Ebru 15 years ago through Ebru workshop series at the Turkish Cultural Center in Philadelphia , and it has been an integral part of her life ever since.
