Artist Reception: Giraffes and Gems on a Bumpy Road In-Person
Nesting, protecting myself and others, bring protected, surviving. Having a sense of calm amidst a challenge. Coming out okay and then trudging through an onslaught of never ending appointments like one wading through marshes.
Giraffe images cross my path, on screens, in gift shops, seemingly everywhere - a reminder that I will be okay. Grateful for gems on my path that come as something to laugh about, nature, people, animals and other signs of encouragement.
This show is a combination of original pieces and others that were reimagined - objects, shapes and animals I discovered while looking at the pieces.
Birds flying, dogs sniffing, ocean waves crashing, tree branches flickering in the wind.
Movement peaks interest, sounding the alert that we, and the world we live in, are alive. Giving the notion of movement in my work connects the work with the feeling of being alive whether real or imagined.
